Tax Manager Required

We are a full-service accounting firm providing a range of tax, accounting, bookkeeping, CRA audits, and consulting services to individuals, notfor-profit entities, and private companies. The Firm has specific experience in several subject areas, including income tax return preparation, tax planning, estate planning and final returns and the purchase and sale of the business, international taxation and works across a number of industries, from construction and retail to high technology.
Job Role: Tax Partners is looking for a dynamic Tax Manager (Corporate) to join our growing team. Reporting to the Partner, you will play a critical role in providing tax advice to our corporate clients and firm personnel. You will also provide technical support and have the opportunity to advice on wide ranging issues such as compliance, taxable and tax-free transaction reorganizations, net operating loss utilization and planning, consolidated tax returns, etc.
Job Details: The Tax Manager (Corporate) will be responsible for managing multiple corporate tax engagements by planning, preparing, reviewing and analyzing provincial and federal tax returns for private companies (CCPC). In addition, other duties such as researching and developing tax saving strategies for clients and reconciling tax data on financial statements.
Responsibilities: – Assisting and working with the Tax Partner on various tax consulting assignments. – Lead and manage 550+ corporate tax engagements by planning, preparing, reviewing and analyzing provincial and federal tax returns for organizations and individuals. – Full cycle accounting to assist with our bookkeepers. – Prepare and review federal and provincial income taxes for individuals, businesses, real estate, and exempt organizations. – Assist clients effectively manage tax risks and liabilities associated with intricate business transactions. – Identify and develop high value tax opportunities for our clients. – Prepare internal memorandums, written correspondence/guidance, private letter rulings and other documents for submission to the CRA. – Supervise, mentor, coaching and guide the entire corporate tax unit and staff of 3. – Effective communication with our clients and with our partner and staff – Managing corporate tax team workload requirements and provide assistance to partner in reviewing staff members performances.
Qualifications / Requirements: – 5+ years of corporate tax experience working in public practice tax group – Ability to prioritize, delegate work and manage multiple tasks – Excellent verbal and written communication skills – Acts with professionalism and have a strong work ethic – Strong team player – Entrepreneurial with strong commitment to exceed client expectations – Solid analytical and decision-making qualities – You’re familiar with Profile tax software and Caseware working papers – You can talk to a client about their finances simply and clearly. You can frame tax advice to clients in a way that makes sense to them without using too much professional jargon – You enjoy working outside your comfort zone and challenging yourself to tackle new types of customers (e-commerce, crypto) and engagements (technology consulting, higher end tax work, etc.). – You’re comfortable making decisions on your own and are confident in your ability to provide sound tax planning advice directly to clients – Some travel will be required to visit client sites.
