Every day we are reading about the increases in interest rates and effects this is having on the costs of companies and families. Additionally, prices keep increasing, while the inflation rate is showing a decreasing trend. Finally, the unemployment rate is low, but many still can’t find a job and if interest rates keep increasing it could affect unemployment.
So, what is the relationship between these 3 variables? Why one can affect the others? Are we sure we understand the cause effect relationship in this situation?
What is the future in the economy, both in Canada and in the World?
Is there something each of us could be doing regarding the present situation?
Our Speaker
Alberto Calva holds a bachelor of engineering (B.Eng.), a master of economics (M.Econ). and an MBA. He has more than 30 years of professional experience.
He is a business consultant, being his expertise field corporate finance and strategy. Typical projects have to do with financial project evaluation, project finance (infrastructure P3 projects), valuation of ongoing companies for M&A, profitability analysis, profit planning and cost analysis. Alberto is savvy in financial modeling and statistical data analytics.
He teaches, gives finance workshops for entrepreneurs, business people and executives. He has trained around 10,000 people in 8 different countries. He has been a part-time professor of finance in two graduate business schools. Alberto also gives conferences about the economy and finance for corporations at different events.
He has written more than 500 articles of business, the economy, finance, and strategy. Several years ago he wrote and published a book: “What Every Manager Should Know About Finance”. His working languages are English and Spanish, with some basic knowledge of French.
