Scams, fraud and the elderly. What to watch for and how to protect against it.
In an imperfect world, scam artists are aggressively trying to take advantage of the less fortunate. The elderly are common victims of such acts of fraud. In this presentation, Jeff Gregory BA, CFP, CLU, CHS, EPC will be discussing the signs to watch for if a loved one, neighbor or friend may have become a victim of such a crime. It is very difficult for a victim of a scam to open up and discuss the situation. The fraud could be perpetrated by someone close to him/her and as a result becomes a taboo topic.
We will discuss the various forms of scams that are and have occurred, signs to watch for and some courses of action that can be taken, primarily with an elderly focus in mind. If you have worried about how to handle a present case, have a story to share with a past situation or want to know how to potentially protect yourself and those around you from these acts, please do come and listen to this presentation.
